This is an unfortunate situation. Client ordered a concrete with an integral color. Somehow the codes got mixed up at the plant and the result! A salmon colored stamped driveway. Another contractor came in and did a colored concrete coating that immediately failed, even though they waited for 30 days for concrete to cure and also dry time after install, before driving on it. As soon as client drove his car on driveway, the coating started to peel. The contractor had the best of intentions.

To start our project, We had to professionally strip the existing coating off. That preparation step added cost to this already expensive project. We stained with a water based stain and satin acrylic sealer. Client was very happy with results, especially given the circumstances.

We’ve run into this situation many times, where color is chosen and it’s not quite what the client expected, or your just tired of the color and want a change. The lesson is choose your contractor wisely. A DIY kit from the local hardware or paint and a contractor that doesn’t specialize in coatings can be a costly mistake.
